MDB Non-courageous acts of unkindness

Post by _Jersey Girl »

Hello little MDB community,

As a prelude to an upcoming thread, I'd like to set up a bit of inquiry and just see how that goes...

It's obvious that some MDB posters, feel a need to send nasty, threatening, disrespectful and/or bullying messages to others behind-the-scenes. Personally, when I enter into a conflict with someone in discussion or debate, it is my personal policy to keep it on the board. I wouldn't want anyone thinking that I was so weak that I had to take it off the board and into hiding. I've always seen people who do that as lacking courage and self-confidence.

In other words, if you have the courage to go up against another, I think you should do it in front of God and everybody.

What are your thoughts on this?

Why do you think people slither into behind-the-scenes messages instead of keeping it on the board?

Why take the discussion or debate where it cannot be viewed?

I don't know what motivates people to do that. Frankly, it's just talking behind your back, and it's wrong.

I'm glad you're back, my friend.

This isn't black=or-white for me. Personally, I find the personal attack threads that happen here distracting; I like a lively debate and some bodychecking like everyone else; whole threads dedicated to personal back-and-forth get tiring.

I really don't know why anyone feels the need to be belligerent in PM's. In fact I think a slightly higher level of decorum should accompany a PM until you are on easy-speaking terms with the other poster. Even then, PM seems to be a more intimate venue, one where you *should* exercise congeniality.

Jersey Girl, I'm glad you're back, maybe you are feeling a little stung by idiots. Why not give it a bit of time before you start a revolution?

What does "stung by idiots" mean? I'm unfamiliar with that phrase.

Hey you! We need to do some catching up! I will get to you eventually with an update. I don't have time right now, got 50K irons in the fire at the moment!

'Stung by idiots' is that feeling you get when someone acts like an idiot and you end up suffering from their idiocy. I was referring to your recent 'exchange' with Joseph and your subsequent banning.

That's all - it doesn't mean that you were an idiot; quite the opposite.

PS. Am I prohibited from quoting your posts?

LDST,

I knew I would be banned when I did the deed. It was purely intentional, a calculated move on my part. No suffering involved, I assure you.

I seriously don't think you "get" me.

Wait, did *everyone* else know this was a calculated move? Did I miss a major announcement, or do people around here just know that when Jersey Girl gets banned it is clearly something she meant to do because that is Jersey Girl's persona?

I don't "get" a lot of things. Comparatively, you are fixture of this community; I, a recent immigrant. Perhaps you assume that I know enough about your history and personality to detect subtleties in your messages that others do, I don't know. It seems a 'Newbies guide to Jersey Girl' would be in order.

Regardless, you are right, it is obvious that I don't "get" you. Would you care to share what it is that I don't get so that future interactions can be properly lubricated?
