Training For Godhood

According to Mormon theology, earth life is a kind of training for Godhood. The critical piece of this training is obedience - strict obedience at all times, even when doing so goes against your own conscience and your own good sense. This is, essentially, the only constant in Mormonism. All other standards of right and wrong are completely flexible. Obedience to priesthood authority (and therefore to God) Trump's every other commandment and principle.
When we train to run marathons, we run shorter distances. When we train to be pilots, why run flight simulations. So if this blind obedience to authority (regardless of any standards of right or wrong and regardless of your own ideas) is training for Godhood, what is Godhood really like?
It sounds a lot like slavery, frankly.
