Religion Not God Is What Has Died

I noted LDS elite gloating about being the ultimate humanist. What a denial.
For most cultures Religion is God punishing you for being bad therefore you act accordingly.
Now that modern culture is sophisticated enough a punishing God is not referred to for humans being civil.
So society has let religion die.
Two thing are amiss though.
Religion never was about a punishing God holding a reign on human behavior. Made up crafted religion perhaps. And that has seen its best days. For those who belong to these BS religions do not believe it. Therefore all those religions are dead at heart acting out a traditional form that showcases their chosen piety.
The other thing is what real religion is suppose to be.
NOT ABOUT US
True religion is not our excellence, becoming Christlike, exalted, saints, or what have you as far as man's eternal progress.
True religion is suppose to prepare man to live with God. Exalted, angel, saved soul of what ever degree of virtue, religion is learning to love God, learn to know more about him and still love him, learn more about him and still love him. Know him in full and continue to love him.
Sure God bestows gifts and powers and acts and miracles from time to time. But this is only to try and test you and see if finally knowing God more fully is going to take.
He wants to reveal his face unto you and be your friend while you comprehend fully who he is. This is well beyond a staggering realization that no human is fit for. Simplistic ideas of who God is and idealized visualization of what he looks like have limited our expectations and made us unawares of the magnitude of the interpersonal dynamic such a reality truly is.
Religion is bringing the people to behold the face of God as Moses was wont to do for all Israel. But they would not have it. They would not prepare. They we not prepared to appreciate the joy of such an event.
True religion, that IS not dead is that preparation. Nothing else, really, although other things of necessity continue as well.
It is not about us. It is about him. It is his glory. Not ours. And that is just the way it is. Man thinks it a bore. Man wants the glory. Sorry. And there is nothing boring about the reality of God. Very much the contrary.
