If Monson has a soul and is concerned for his afterlife why doesn't he just stop Endowments and Dead Redemption.

Having marriages in the temple seems to be an acceptable reason to have temples. Endowments and Handclasps seem too funny.

I know people who walked out of the temple wondering if the Church was still true. I'm guessing most of them justified it by holding to the Values of the LDS they were taught before the went through the temple.

I know when i was a child i thought i would be hurt by my parents or cast out of the group for quiting the faith, i just feel bad for those other people who went to the temple and found out if they do leave they will have their blood spilled out and their face ripped apart.

I can't imagine how the Utah cops kept it quiet when they found some guy dead on the road with his tongue in the gutter.

Why doesn't Monson just end most of the temple stuff?

Yes, the handshakes seem a bit of a waste of time.

Scenario 1:
You live a totally acceptable Mormon life.
Get all the temple stuff done etc.
Die.
Get to the pearly gates but can't remember the handshakes and passwords.
Do you get in?
Yes, because God loves you and knows your heart.
i.e. Handshakes not necessary.

Scenario 2:
You live a totally acceptable Mormon life.
Get all the temple stuff done etc.
Go off the rails and break all your covenants, no repentance.
Die.
Get to the pearly gates and fortunately CAN remember all the handshakes and passwords.
Do you get in?
The answer (for Mormons) has to be no.

In both scenario's knowledge of handshakes and passwords is irrelevant.

I've always wondered who was going to be on the other end. God's surely not going to shade everyone's hand 3 times.

They'll hire a lot of low wage, part time employees to deal with the busy season at the International House of Handshakes.

I learned the handshakes and paswords from a apostate so I'm this guy:

Scenario 2:
You live a totally acceptable Mormon life.
Get all the temple stuff done etc.
Go off the rails and break all your covenants, no repentance.
Die.
Get to the pearly gates and fortunately CAN remember all the handshakes and passwords.

Lol, I remember being confused that I was dressed like a baker and learning super secret handshakes and passcodes that are required to get into heaven. I kept expecting Ashton Kutcher to jump out and say I've been punkd.
