Just curious where the sin of drinking came from. Was it from a revelation? I just wounder if the early Christians, new testament acts Christians ,could have been Mormon, because they drank real alcohol with real alcohol content that could cause drunkeness in one setting. I would say Jesus drank the same alcohol as the new testament Christians. were they all sinning? Were they even sinning at the lords supper each week when they drank real wine? Who gives Mormons the right to call something sin that Jesus himself promoted. Not only him but the whole Bible.

Yes, read D&C 89. Note that it is not a permanent law and was put into effect only because of conditions at the current time.

The Christian temperance movement tends more to come from Old and New Testament references about the danger of alcoholic consumption in certain matters (particularly judgment).

It doesn't matter. Their dispensation is not ours. If they lived today they'd be under the temporary law. If not, not.

Jesus did. He is the one who gave D&C 89. He can also rescind it if he wishes. He might.

Thanks. A man made law. that's what I figured it might be. So I guess from that statement everything espoused as a eternal truth or ordinance or prohibition in the d&c is from Jesus?

There's no such thing as sin, so no sin for drinking. The whole concept of "sin" is fabricated by humans who want to exert control over other humans.
