Peterson's Annual/Semi-annual Announcement

Peterson wrote:It's long been obvious that significant participation here on this board has not been worth my effort. Too much nonsense and static. Too many personal insults. Too small an audience, too, frankly -- and a remarkably hostile one. And, of course, I've had enough, and more than enough, of Scratch's malignant and bizarre fantasies about me. There's no hope that he'll abandon them or give up his crusade to defame me, so there seems no point in continuing to reply to him. I doubt, anyway, that more than a handful -- even here -- actually find him persuasive (though I could, obviously, be wrong about that)......

Owing to my enforced absence from the board, and to the peculiar character of this specific season -- the beginning of a new academic year -- this seems a good period to resolve to cut my participation back here to a bare minimum (e.g., advertising new publications). And even that will probably become less worthwhile to me as certain other venues open up.

Well I'm sure relieved we got the first of the semi-annual "I'm quitting or cutting back" announcements from Provo!!  One could set their watch to em!

And this from the guy who made the same commitment after last years FAIR Conference! This from the same guy who was posting 10-15 times a day less than a month ago.  This from the same guy who couldn't wait to get home from the theatre/concert w wife to jump back on the message boards at midnight and beyond on weekends!  This from the same guy who has to let the world he's going on vacation and then posts on message boards everyday while on vacation!  This from the same guy who has over 7000 posts in 4 years here! This from the same guy who has been telling us for a decade how incredibly busy he is in Provo working for the church!

So what's the "over/under" for the next twelve months here Provo?  1500 posts?

Unbelievable!  But predictable!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (for Belmont and Provo)

Oh brother...

Are you hoping to be Scratch's sidekick? Just curious.

This decision by Dr. Peterson seems very prudent in light of Dr. Scratch's latest informant tip.

He gave answers to this in the Mormon Stories interview, and it's quite clear where he stands on this issue. If his view doesn't accord with yours, then I guess you could characterise it as "tail between the legs".

Tolerance of opposing viewpoints is not one of the virtues of this board. Mockery of opposing viewpoints is par for course.

Thanks for pointing this out Ray!! headed to Germany sunday, downloading these now, can not wait to hear them.

I did not think Dan would ever do this. Looking at the topics covered, it appears some tough topics were covered. My hats off to Dan for doing this ... looking forward to it.

He gave the same dishonest pablum that he published in that Ensign fluff piece. His intellectually and academically vacuous defense was decimated in that thread. He has yet to respond.

Joey, you da man. The last think DCP refers to on his interview on Mormon Stories is that guy who thinks he is Dan is only a Provo guy. Cool. Huh?

And I was kinda hopin' he might mention the Mormon Zion Apostle Antagonist that has NEVER lost an argument. Still hopin".

Dr. P has a habit of only attacking the weakest targets.
