Will Mormons ever admit that Brigham was a false prophet?

I can't think of another Mormon who made as many glaring doctrinal errors as Brigham Young. Brigham young thought that Adam was God, for one thing. Not knowing who God is should be kind of a big deal. Add to that blood atonement, all the hired hits, the cover up of the MMM, the bizarre pro-incest stance, ad nauseum, and it's hard to conceive of Brigham being a true prophet by current Correlated Mormonism standards. He'd be excommunicated today.

Not if he still he held his job as Prophet. Brigham can never officially be called a false prophet. The church would crumble. He is, after all, the true father of the LDS church. So much of what the LDS Church is now was created by Brigham.

Joe was just the starting point.

I don't think that the organization could do that. And really, why should they. Invoking the mantra "acting as a man" renders LDS leaders impervious to criticism for the faithful. No amount of mistakes or wrong doing in their role as a man can threaten their role as a prophet. The office of an LDS prophet is an LLC.

Its the neck-beard yea?...If it exists, someone has a fetish for it i suppose....I just don't get the attraction to neck-beard-having, hypocritical, polygamous, mini-tyrants who are personally responsible for the death of hundreds of people while stealing from the "faithful" schmucks who followed him to "zion"...but hey, that's just me....

You have a very forgiving nature, Antley.

Doesn't appear to be the case. But it is true that Adam Sr Adam Jr is also not doctrinal.

He did have a lot of opinions but even he admitted that his saying weren't doctrine until he had a chance to review them. He was a true prophet who came with many stumbling blocks but much of what you mentioned are not catastrophic nor are they as important as your yellow journalism makes them out to be.

" I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture."

At times I am not sure which is more disconcerting to me, being a Mormon? or being a brighamite?

Your out of context use of that statement brands you as a sufferer of Fortigurn's Lazy Research or a liar:

"I will make a statement here that has been brought against me as a crime, perhaps, or as a fault in my life. Not here, I do not allude to anything of the kind in this place, but in the councils of the nations—that Brigham Young has said "when he sends forth his discourses to the world they may call them Scripture." I say now, when they are copied and approved by me they are as good Scripture as is couched in this Bible, and if you want to read revelation read the sayings of him who knows the mind of God, without any special command to one man to go here, and to another to go yonder, or to do this or that, or to go and settle here or there"

We need no more evidence than him claiming in his prophet office that there were people on the moon and the freak'n sun. He is of Satan if he is not of the lord and one false prophecy is all it takes and that's a fu@&'n doosey. I've been listening to serious atheist debates and when ever Mormon comes up the whole audience, both sides blast out laughing there has never been a more laughable cult in history except maybe Islam that claimed you could walk far enough west to see where the sun sets. Born of idiots for idiots.
