Thread Lock on MAD versus here. What does it tell us?
I have my own theories, but I'm interested in other opinions:
A bit ago, I visited the former MAD & noted that, on the first three pages alone, no-less-than 12 threads were locked.
Compare that to here where I can't recall a thread being locked (maybe it's happened, but I can't recall)...
Any thoughts? Is it obvious why or is there another factor I'm not considering?

They're unwilling to talk about gospel issues that have application in real life. Many others get locked when a mod or one of the mods' darlings get's in trouble when the debate of conversation doesn't go their way.

For once, I agree with you...especially your second idea.

I think they have an autolock feature....where threads of a certain age get autolocked.

Not the ones I looked at. They were relatively new and the mod posted something to end the thread.

I don't post here very much anymore, but I will never post on MAD/MDDB again, either. Some of the posters there are very intelligent, but the moderator bias there almost induces me to vomit. I totally ignore RFM, and MAD is going the same way. It's a chore to look at MAD these days, for me, and something I do less and less.

They may also have an artificial capricious-lock generator which locks threads with no malice or reason aforethought. That way it always looks like the moderators are awake.

I can't speak for that board but it appears to me that the moderators lock the threads when they no longer are getting posts on the original point or the posters descend into bickering.

I don't see that. I rarely winners or losers there. When people turn to nastiness it is over.
