Hmmm...
That's got me thinking about my next tithing settlement meeting
Bishop: 'jon, are you a full tithe payer?'
'jon': 'Nope'
Bishop: 'jon, are you a part tithe paye'
'jon': 'Nope, not even close'
Bishop: 'jon, how much tithing have you paid this year?'
'jon': 'Nothing, Nada, Zilch, Zero'
Bishop: 'Oh, well I'm going to have to ask for your temple recommend back.'
'jon': 'Hold your tapirs, the reason I haven't paid is because I think there's a chance of me and mrs jon making a mistake and double paying next year...'
Genius...

At least they will get twice the blessings this month.

Or perhaps instead he will just test them twice as much this month, to see if they are really worthy of all those blessings they might be thought to qualify for on a purely mathematical basis. Maybe a minor house fire? Family dog run over by a truck?
"For behold I the Lord thy God am a totally unpredictable God, whose ways are for his worshipers to justify on a strictly
ex post facto basis. So deal with it."
(Sorry, I've forgotten where I found that text ...)

I think that if someone had a testimony of the Gospel that they would give twenty percent. The church asks for ten percent and the writers of the gospels report Jesus said go double with what is asked and that would be a big twenty percent. Perhaps that would mean a double wide - double decker mobile home instead of a house on a hill but then new testament teachings often require courage, faith and patience.

Just to clarify - do you have a testimony of the [LDS version of] the Gospel?
I don't, by the way. More or less the reverse, as it happens.

I don't know what to believe about God. I'm interested in cultures and people. As to the LDS church - the Church has character defects like all people and organizations.

Except not all organisations claim to be the only one directly managed, on a day to day basis, by Christ himself...
