Born Again Process

When I was "Born Again" I felt that the Mormon Church was mostly b.s. Having never been to the temple myself I felt that the three degrees of glory were fundamentally void having nothing to do with Christianity. I ignored my gut feeling that something was seriously wrong with that religion. I later started attending classes again, I was constantly harassed by basically everyone who I thought was a TBM. I had no Idea why they were giving me such a harsh time. The way I rationalized it was that I'm such a P.I.M.P. people get jealous. The truth was my "Born Again" experience fundamentally proved everything in the endowment ritual to be a bunch of B.S. The sad thing was that people cannot talk about what goes on inside the temple outside of the temple and that is why I was getting such a harsh undertone from TBMS.

This is my beef with "Born Again Christianity"

I will have to compare BAC with the 12 steps of A.A. It seem as if BACS just stop at the 11th step and don't work the 12th, which is to maintain the 11th. Am I missing something here?

hatersinmyward,

I am an exmormon who has attended both Protestant and Catholic services and classes. There have been a few occasions when I have been asked a polite question or two about Mormons or my Mormon background. I have not felt harrassed in any way about the subject. When I first explored other churches I felt some fear that people would react negatively to my foreign cultural background. Happily I found the fear to be without basis.

But I may be misunderstanding your post. I understand BS and TBM but do not understand P.I.M.P. (except in relation to prostitution) I was not sure what class you returned to. Is Born again Christianity some special group instead of the traditional forms of Christianlty? Did you fall into some sort of better than every body else cult?

Hatersinmyward, Born again christians have treated me the same way that Mormons treat apostates. Although I profess universalist christianity, I was thrown out of a baptist congregation early on in my christian experience for being of the wrong political party. I hate it when born again people act like they are all loving and kind and wonderful, when, in fact, I've had more hate and judgment hurled my way from born agains than I ever did Mormons. I'd made close friends at my baptist church, and had enjoyed all the activities for about 6 years, when the first election of GW came around. At the end of one lively Sunday school class, I was asked what my opinions were. I've never seen anyone turn on me faster than that group, and don't tell me it's not common. It is. Talk about pressure. "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior?" You have to tell them that, or you aren't in. "Have you been saved?" My answer: "God knows." But ohhhhhhh no, that ain't good enough. You aren't in, my friend. And they won't stop until you say the magical words, even if you don't know what the hell they are talking about. Yeah, I've had it with born agains, sign carriers of dead babies, people protesting outside clinics screaming at women, like that's going to bring them to jeeezus. It's much more peaceful accepting religion if you aren't threatened into it.

Classes meaning all of the Mormon activities.

Pimp is slang.

It seems to me BAC is more or less a non-affiliated christian denomination. So a person is free to choose a specific house of worship without leaving the faith. ex: The Jesus Workshop vs. Utah County House of Worship.
