The guy apparently wasn't all 'with it' when he died. At the time of his death the late Elder's coherence was sort of a big deal.

I was not able to find any of his later talks online. The last one on Youtube is from the year 2000.

I don't remember Haight saying anything way out of line in his post 2k years. That leads me to believe the Mormon leaders might actually believe what they say.

Does anyone have more information on this subject?

I don't recall David Haight saying anything out of the mainstream. I do recall he lived to a very, very old age, and that he is the grandfather of current Republican candidate Jon Huntsman. He may not have been 'with it' at the time of death, but that would be typical for someone his age (he was just a month shy of 98 years old when he died).

He was a remote family friend up to the point of his death. I saw him at a wedding reception for a family member right before his death. He occasionally attended my in-laws' ward. Seemed to have it all up to the point of his demise; didn't put up with nonsense but that was his personality.
