How is City Creek mall/complex doing god's work?
Why is COJCOLDS trifling with billions of dollars of the lord's money on a mall?

It can only be because the Lord told them to.
It's the first question on my list for when He gets here....

I don't know, but I had a quick look at it recently and it wasn't all that impressive, IMHO.

"Go forth and build a mall, and I will see it and say if it is good..."
Only revelation they've had in the last 100 years, but that doesn't sound all that impressive at GC.

A poster named "Charity" on that other board once said that when Jesus returned to Salt Lake City, Utah, he wouldn't want to stay at the Motel 6. That is why there are million dollar condos at City Creek.

Why not just build a manger? It would save a lot of money and Jesus would feel right at home.

I guess it all depends on how a person defines "God" and how they would define "God's work".
If you view God through the lens of Mormonism; as an interventionist and perfected man-being, then building, creating and improving is part of doing God's work, which in the case of Mormonism is "building the kingdom of God on earth". It is an act of doing and creating.
I would ask, what should God be doing that he may not be doing already? What should the LDS church be doing that it is not doing already? How can any religion ultimately do "God's work" if it doesn't know or understand what God is, what God wants, or that God has any needs or wants at all?
I would say that the LDS church mostly acts in accordance to how it defines and interprets its concept of God. in my opinion.

So maybe JSJr at least had the focus right when he said during the King Follett sermon that the first principle of the gospel is to know the true nature of god, and that knowing god is eternal life. Seems COJCOLDS has strayed from that considerably. See
here for thread discussion illustrating how COJCOLDS has lost that focus.

Maybe Monson will give me a flat. It's the least he could do.
