Did you feel the spirit...

...during one of Paul H Dunn's talks?

Now this isn't a thread about Paul H Dunn per se.
But if you felt the spirit during one of his discourses, were you in fact feeling the spirit....

If you were, then the spirit can touch you when people tell you lies, that hardly seems consistent with Church teachings on the matter.

If you weren't actually feeling the spirit, but thought you were, how can you possibly know when it really is the spirit?

For instance, let's say you felt the same depth of feeling during a talk by Paul H Dunn (one ofnthe fraudulent ones) as you did when you read and prayed about the Book of Mormon. How can you trust those feelings anymore?

Brain dead people worship energy.

People have lied and manipulated me and said I drove the spirit out of the room because I could sense the BS and they were sensing my discomfort.

Those kid of poeple need some serious therapy.

My mom did. I wasn't really aware of him when he was actively preaching.

Sure I felt the spirit.

But was the overall message a lie? PHD still led people to Christ. Some indeed moved away from Christ upon hearing of his embellishments and exaggerations.

How can you trust those feelings anymore?

Because the word of God is stil the word of God no matter where it is sown (see the parable of the sower). Good people are still flawed which doesn't mean they can't bring the Spirit. PHD's deficiencies are obviously a stumbling block to you. Not to me. You need to learn how to sift something, even from hard ground.

Bcspace, I don't actually have a stumbling block with PHD. I liked him. He lied. He got fired for lying.

My difficulty is in trying to accept that you can feel the spirit when someone is lying to you. If that is the case then you would have to accept that the Book of Mormon could be a pack of lies with an overall valuable message.

So you can feel the spirit as long as it's holy BS?

watching apostles on t.v. and being there are 2 different ball parks. (GC is rehearsed) generaly speaking you can tell when they go from opening remarks to teleprompter.

Books have been refined an edited.

Joseph Smith wrote horror novels, some became movies.

Steven King wrote spiritual texts then later started his own church.

I guess Bcspace would not have a problem with Joseph making up the religion because it might bring people to Christ.

Excellent point, Themis, we have been way too concerned with truth, when it's all about context.
