The Oldest Book

For the past several years, I have been doing my best to navigate my way through Mormonism by relying on what my heart and mind tell me rather than relying on other people, regardless of their position.
It was while thinking about this last Sunday that a statement from Joseph Smith's King Follett Discourse came to me and resonated like nobody's business.
After comparing the translations of several Bibles and referring to it as the oldest book, Joseph suddenly changed course and said,
I thank God that I have the oldest book in my heart.
Joseph Smith identified this "oldest book" as the Gift of the Holy Ghost, but it seemed to me that he was saying something similar to what I have been feeling.
Does this resonate with anybody else?
All the Best!
