Television networks didn't like the idea that BYU was rigid about not playing on Sunday. I don't know that BYU could ever change their decision on that one.

Somebody needs to let BYU know that Jesus cares more about revenue than principles (if the church has taught us anything at all by their example). It's just not like them to do the right thing.

Must have caught them on an off day.

If I was a BYU football fan I would be pretty pissed right now. However, you have to respect the University for sticking to their principles. We would all be bashing them right no if they caved on their no-sunday policy just to get into a BCS conference. They may have a better TV deal as an independent, but what do BYU football fans have to look forward to? The Armed Forces bowl. Can they still get into a BCS bowl game if they finish in the Top 10, or is that only for Conference members? If I recall correctly, Notre Dame was the only independent that had a BCS deal.

It's too bad BYU, Utah, and TCU bolted from the Mountain West conference. With Boise State now in it, they might have received BCS status as a conference without moving.

Maybe Steve Young or Johnny Miller could let the church know their temple recommends are still valid and souls are still intact!!

I applaud BYU's consistency.

This is certainly a case where there was a "right" and "wrong" decision that could be made according to BYU's (and the Church's) core doctrines and principles, and they made the right one. There's nothing to criticize here.

Conversely, had they relented, I suspect there would have been a torrent of mocking and criticism, as the hypocrisy would have been too great to bear.

So good for BYU.

Is that a fake tattoo on McKay Jacobson's arm? It looks like he wrote his initials with a marker. Notice the guy tackling him has real tattoos on his arm. It's trendy for football players to decorate their biceps with tattoos, but getting a fake tattoo just makes you a poser. Some football players burn a brand on their arms. Technically it's not a tattoo. Maybe he should have done that instead of the marker.

BYU just went independent this summerish, yes? Why are they looking to join a conference now?

Or be as convenient and inexpensive to travel to, and as capable of boosting the power ratings and TV ratings as TCU was to the real decision makers - the Big 12 University Presidents.

However, for our purposes it is best to stick to the consideration of college sunday games since that reason demonstrates a superior moral stand.

Good for BYU.

What? It's just too damn hard to schedule BYU around not playing on sunday?? I don't get it.

When do colleges play on Sunday anyways? Aren't they all on Sat?
