Prayer box in the temple

My friend told me over the weekend that she put my name in the prayer box at the temple. I said "Oh ok, that's nice of you but I really don't need any help with anything." She said well you still have your choice on what to do. Then my question was what is the point of the prayer box when I still have a choice and it makes it's "power" kind of void.
So what is the point of the prayer box? What does it do anyways?
I'm refering to when people leave the church. How does a prayer box help them?

Rambo, you have it the wrong way round.
That person wasn't putting your name in the prayer box for your benefit, it purely serves the purpose of making them feel better about themselves. If something good happens to you it will be because they put your name in there. If something good doesn't happen it's because you rejected the help of them putting your name in there. See how it works?
If they had really intended helping you then they wouldn't have made a point of telling you they'd done it. By doing so they have exposed their motives as seeking your praise and thanks.

Well she didn't get it.
I told her I apperciate her for thinking of me but it's almost an insult from the other side of things. It's like saying I need help and I am a lost soul. Where really I don't feel that way at all. To me it's like them looking down on poor Rambo. I just don't need that at all and it's insulting.

How does God give you peace in your mind or a clear mind?
Anyways, I just feel these special prayers are a way of believers looking down on me and I don't like it.

I would like to know the order of power that God uses.
Is it like (from least powerful to most powerful) prayer->fasting->temple prayer box->blessing?
If you get 100 people on Facebook to pray for you, is that more powerful than, say, 10 people fasting for you?
Does the possibility of God answering the request grow exponentially as you do more of these things? Or is it linear?

At what point will one prayer make the difference? (No wonder they often sound repetitious.)
Or could it be that only a fraction of prayers make it through, so it's best to accumulate them for good measure.

My wife called the temple and had them put a name on the prayer roll.
What she didn't tell them is that it was the name of our dog.
