Porn as defined by you? Are we to include still photos of fully clothes people kissing in that definition?

Just answering the question will be sufficient (as if that's all you actually posted on the occasion you know I'm in reference to).

As I stated on another thread, I think that pornography is generally negative. People are probably better off without it.

That said, I don't think that porn viewing is even remotely the same as the commission of adultery in its seriousness. Yet, I've met many LDS women who (for whatever reason) DO see them as being EXACTLY the same. I've seen marriages break up over it. I have one female LDS friend who decided to have an affair on her husband in order to "get even" with him over his porn viewing. And yes, to her, there was no difference between her infidelity and his porn viewing.

Porn viewing probably ought to be seen a being a vice of approximately the same degree as drinking coffee or tea. If you villify (intentionally or not) the porn user, you'll drive him underground and present obstacles to the change that he might otherwise seek.

So you support the production and consumption of homosexual pornography. I assume then, this would extend to the heterosexual variety as well.

I do not defend pornography, I'd like to see it disappear from the face of the earth, but the church's view of the matter has no bearing on my opinion. I would say the church goes overboard in its opposition, and likely manages to create more interest in porn than if it took a more balanced approach. Just look at how consumed you (Droopy) are by the subject. I could have gone for weeks or months without even thinking about porn, but here you are bringing it up.

I have a laissez-faire position. I support your right to watch as much dude on dude action as you like. I'm neutral on the morality of it, so long as no minors are involved or the rights of adults are not abused.

I take a similar position on drugs and alcohol and guns and karaoke, even though personally I'm not interested in those things (or porno, for that matter).

You should not minimize the deep sense of betrayal and unfaithfulness felt by woman married to a man who indulges in pornography. Their sense is that of an adultery of the heart and mind; of having any number of fantasy "lovers" other than her. It can be a deeply felt wound, and one of pornography's most painful lesions.

That's not what drives porn users "underground." What drives porn users underground is the very same dynamic that drives alcoholics and drug users underground: the need to isolate himself within the fantasy world of his high to the greatest degree possible with the least risk of exposure and resistance.
