Is the universe holographic in nature?

Here's another pretty smart guy who thinks that the universe/existence is consciousness based. Craig Hogan, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Hogan
Talk about your competing worldviews. This guy is a director at Fermilab, believes in Deity and advocates for the holographic model of the universe..... Science, religion and pseudo-science.
His team is building a machine right now at fermilab to explore the holographic theory....to look for holes in the matrix. http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/ ... esolution/
What would be the implications if the holographic model were adopted by science? I don't know, that's why I'm asking.
