From the article
This new study concludes that the first-known hunters in North America can now be dated back at least 14,000 years.
It is the finding and analysis of a tip from a human-made projectile point (spearhead) gathered from the remains of a mastodon that is behind the rewriting of North American prehistory. The spearhead, which itself was carved out from a mastodon-bone, was found at the Manis site in the state of Washington when archaeologists excavated a mastodon in the late 1970s.
However, 30 years would pass before a team of researchers was able to put a date on the spearhead and establish the identity of both the bone and the spearhead that had been embedded into the rib of the defeated mastodon. This was done through, amongst other things, DNA analysis, protein sequencing, advanced computer technology, Carbon-14 dating as well as comparisons with other mastodon findings in North America, for instance in the state of Wisconsin.
The dating seems a tad inconvenient in terms of the Book of Mormon and Garden of Eden.

Is this a Jaredite...?
'Church pictures are not always accurate' (The Nehor May 4th 2011)
Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told.
Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.

Queue the apologist posting of articles to FAIR where DNA is inconclusive, Carbon Dating is inaccurate, protein sequencing is against the CHI and if the computers weren't used in a "open safe environment" then they were probably used for pornography therefore tainted.

Chapel Mormons would say that the scientists are simply wrong. The scriptures are true, and the church is true.
Internet Mormons would say that almost nothing described in the scriptures is true, but the scriptures are, nevertheless, true, and the church is true.
So either the scientists are wrong, or else the prophets, seers, and revelators are just fallible humans who don't know the s*** that they claim to know and make it up as they go along. But the church is still true.
Seriously, there's no really good reply to this kind of science, short of bearing one's testimony. And Mormons are taught from day one that testimony is the most important thing in their lives.
We can pile on all the Siberians, mastodon spearpoints, and DNA studies we want. Serious Mormons only ever stop believing when they question the nature of their testimony.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Sethbag, it is so surreal that in 1987, a year after I was baptized, I was taught in priesthood that the dinosaurs never existed on this planet. That the earth was formed by all kinds of matter - and dinosaurs lived elsewhere. Oh and dinosaur footprints were possibly placed by Satan in order to confuse and deceive us.
I recall going, WTF and ignoring the lesson.
You're right. Chapel Mormons would say everyone is wrong and the church is true.
