Are LDS brides prepared for what they'll wear in sealings?

Post by _madeinvoyage »

I have heard rumors, and would like to know - it's so conflicting. Is it true that girls don't know what their temple sealings will be like until they're there? Like, what their groom will be wearing too? Or what their vows will consist of?

Details are maybe not appropriate but a general answer, for the promises and actions etc that you are required to undertake in the Temple - they are not articulated in any clear understandable way in advance.

First time it will all be a big surprise.

Yeah this is true. I'm pretty sure they know what the vows consist of though.

I have heard many brides being pretty shocked on their wedding day cause it was their first time through the temple. Just recently I heard of 2 of my friends brides being pretty shocked about the whole experience.

I could tell me wife was uncomfortable in the temple. But until recently, when she was able to really open up about it, I had no idea what a horrible day our wedding day was for her. There is nothing special or personal about a temple wedding. It is a quintessential assembly line complete with an old nag telling us we had to get out of the sealing room because the next group was about to come in.
To your point, never in a million years did my wife envision she would be getting married in that get up. I wasn't exactly feeling suave in my bakers hat.
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

A far cry from every little girl's dream of promenading down the aisle with her Daddy, only to be met by her prince.

Just the same, the price is right and you need only pencil in a short amount of time in your Franklin Day Planner.

I am really curious about the outfit. I left the church before getting married and google could not find any pictures. Could someone enlighten me with a pm?
Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus."

I remember thinking it had to be some weird joke. I didn't get a lot of sleep the night before, so it was all surreal. I remember doing the endowments, and then going into the sealing room and seeing a bunch of my family members in the crazy costumes. It was like I was learning a big family secret for the first time. A very strange experience.

Yeah after I got my endowments and entering the Celestial room I saw all my family. Then they started hugging me and they were kind of like hugs as in "now you know" and "you are now one of us" I even thought to myself at the time that I was really in a cult. But then I put that aside and tried not to focus on it. The temple has always been a place that I trieded to avoid as much as possible because it just gave me a bad feeling. It was the thing I pretended that it just didn't exist in my church. I think it's because I really didn't believe in any of the temple stuff and that gave me the uneasy feeling about it. Hard to face it all when your family is sooo into it.
