Well it seems that I was right on another thread. I stated that in countries with public day care and finland in particular, parents are becoming part time parents as women are forced to work to make ends meat. And now today, the finnish newspaper has just published an article that supports my understanding.

Parents are becoming part time parents and the children are suffering the consequences. Nothing can compensate for moms staying home to care for their children. Now this all comes into play when I stated that children in state sponsored day care tend to suffer later when they reach puberty because parents do not know how to be parents.

The LDS got it right.

Why Me,

This is clearly a big stance from the Church "Women should stay at home and have kids". When you see articles suggesting children suffer as a result of mothers going out to work you list them in support of the Church's stance. Fair enough.

The world is overpopulated and the rate of overpopulation is increasing. This is already resulting in us (the human race) being unable to feed, clothe, shelter and protect all the people that currently live on this planet. If the rate of overpopulation doesn't decrease then more and more children will suffer.

The Church's stance seems to completely disregard the consequence of overpopulation - if every teenager in the world followed the Church's council then world infrastructure would collapse and millions upon millions would starve and be homeless.

The LDS Church appears to be myopic and reckless in its teaching about procreation.

Why is it that LDS working women are being featured on the Mormon ads?

Whyme it seems like the church is now fine with women working outside the home or they wouldn't of featured these ladies in their ads.

Oh, and Why Me:

A person quoted in your article says this:

”Fewer hours in daycare are a good idea, but they are not always feasible. Even if the employer accepted six-hour working days, it is not economically possible[.]”

How does having one fewer working adult in a family and giving up at least 10% of your income to the Church ("at least" = offerings besides tithing), per the teachings of the Church, fix this problem?

Yes, please explain why Mia Love, the mother of three young children and the Mayor of Saratoga Springs, is featured in an "I Am A Mormon" spot.

Surely her children would be better off if she stayed at home and nurtured them. Where are those kids all day long while mom is being Ms. Mayor? Daycare, perhaps?

I tend to agree that nothing can compensate for Moms staying home with their children so long as Mom is agreeable and feels statisfied by that situation. On another related thread, I asked you about parenting classes. You then, asked me where such classes might be found and I don't think I answered you.

Any community college or university with an early childhood program offers classes in child development and behavior guidance. Those are where I would begin were I a new or expecting parent.

When I see the LDS Church encouraging competency in parenting skills by offering parenting classes to their membership facilitated by a qualified facilitator or encouraging parents to avail themselves of child development and behavior guidance classes, or even stocking their libary shelves with good quality books on parenting such as those authored by professionals such as Dr. T. Berry Brazelton and others, then I will be happy to agree with you publicly, that the LDS "got it right".

And probably, not a minute sooner.

p.s. If I am not mistaken, BYU has a kick ass early childhood program. See? I know stuff. :-) How about encouraging members to enroll in a class or two?

Remember when I said that BYU has a kick ass early childhood program? I knew this to be fact. So, I did a bit more digging for current information and here you go:

That's a link to BYU's own childcare program. From what I can tell, it's open to students and the community, offering part-day sessions for children age 4. It also serves as a lab school for the ECE department.


What that means, why me, is that BYU (that has a kick ass ECE program) operates it's own childcare program that functions as a lab school for the ECE department.

I'd like it if you would answer a few questions for me.

1. Is there any age or circumstances you feel it acceptable (and not a threat) for a child to be placed in a childcare program? If so, what is the age/circumstances?
2. Do you think that young children can benefit from enrollment in an early childhood program?
3. To your knowlege, what do "day care" professionals do each day with children and what standards are they held to?
