New Church Policy on Cross-dressing Halloween Kids

Hey, this is straight off the local Fox News Channel 13 station in SLC.
Several LDS Wards have posted warnings that youngsters showing up for the Church Halloween activities in a cross-dressing costume will told to leave.
So this is fair warning to any little girls wanting to be Spiderman: Such costuming will not be countenanced by the Church.
I would hope that Droopy, Stemelbow or some other mainstream member could help fill us in on the whys and wherefores of this policy.

Are they allowed to dress up as actual LDS members? You know... complete with the cheap suit and the stick up their ass?

Almost sounds like next year's delegates to the Republican Convention, except for the cheap suits.

Um, this isn't a new policy. Although, I've never heard of people being told to leave. Weapons and masks are sometimes discouraged, too. I've been in wards where this policy was spoken and written on the handouts and others were it was just general understanding.
Honestly, I think that males dressed as females (complete with falsies) will be the biggest "issue." Females dressed as males...not so much a problem.
If this really is something "new" I would be curious to know what is new about it. Is it in the handbook and used to not be in the handbook? Or is it the posting of actual signs that is new?

At least the cheap suit would be optional.
To be recognized as LDS, the stick is necessary.

This is interesting. I have never heard anything mentioned about the "cross-dressing" policy before. Maybe our ward just never had an issue with it?
Now, the "no masks" has been a policy for as long as I can remember. That is based on the fact that the mob wore masks when killing Joseph Smith. The "no mask" policy is out of respect for that incident. Actually, many schools that allow costumes also have a "no mask" policy for safety reasons, so it is really not all that unusual. The "no weapons" policy would be for similar safety issues, I would think.
