Bishops appointed by inspiration from God...

How did God allow the SP to be inspired to appoint this man to the office of Bishop?

If the Holy Ghost inspired his appointment then how can He be trusted?
If the Holy Ghost didn't inspire his appointment then how can any decision by a SP be trusted as inspired?

If we are to believe what god defenders have to say, then the SP was inspired to appoint this guy, because as we all know, god loves to heap on the pain.

Just think of how much all those abused girls will grow from this! Oh, how I envy them! They must be really strong spirits to have been chosen for these trials!

if there's any justice , this guy will be thrown in with the general population and those animals will take care of him.

As for the question of how an inspired church could allow this , I've had TBMs tell me that maybe those children needed this trial in their life. That's how a screwed in the head some TBMs are.

Does KSL edit it's comment section?
Way too many comments by "card carrying members".

This story makes me hope for some type of existence after this life. This guy deserves more punishment than can be given in his final years on earth and those girls deserve some type of reward for having their childhoods destroyed.

BS.

Anyway. Its true that we should never ever think that a calling int he Church is in every case inspired by God. Some impressions aren't from God, in my estimation, and we're easily fooled.

I've heard Mormons say things like that, and I'm not exactly swimming in Mormons. So, yeah, that happens.

I've heard the phrase used, sure. But in the case of children who are taken advantage of like that? I don't know if I ever heard anyone go there. And if they do, they're idiots.

There's something about the LDS concept that if someone offends a little one (which I read as sexually taking advantage of one) they are better off to have never lived.

That's actually Biblical concept - from the Gospels.

Hey, what do you know... we agree on something.

I think you may be surprised by how many idiots you're sitting beside in church on Sunday.

While I agree, it seems more used as an excuse. The Hoffman case is a classic case in which inspiration would have been very helpful, and was happening with a number of individuals who are considered the most open to inspiration, yet got none. In reality we see no real inspiration from any divine being, and people are left to themselves to figure it out. Some are better then others, which is why some bishops seem to be so inspired and others much less so.
