Mosiah 3:19 Natural Man is God's Enemy

For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
So is the Mormon God a ball buster, for which there is not enough room for his ego and that of his own, adult child?
Are children really submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to his or her father in all things? In my experience, sometimes, just as in my experience adults are sometimes. At other times, I see children kick against the pricks, inpatient as any being ever is, selfish and ego-driven. If anything, I think adults exhibit this list of attributes from Mosiah much more frequently in their behavior than children typically do.

This always struck me as a way to sneak Original Sin in through the back door.

You mean, back when Mormonism was a Christian-like sect? It seems that the origination circa 1830 was very much like other Christianity, except for (a) god again appearing/talking to man, and (b) the Book of Mormon and the peoples of the America. The messages in the Book of Mormon really seems for the vast part to be a re-hash of the Biblical messages.
Then the 'uniquely Mormon' aspects began to be added right up until 1844, when JSJr was murdered. This was followed during the migration and then Utah with apostles and prophets like BY, JT, etc musing about what it was JSJr had really been talking about as he added those uniquely Mormon aspects. Then, another shift marked decades of receding of the uniquely Mormon aspects, followed by the 1990s when Mopologetics took hold, Mormon Doctrine was rejected as such by the Mormon intelligentsia, suddenly there were two Cumorahs (when FARMS flipped out because the FP secretary, Watson, said the Book of Mormon Cumorah was in upstate New York), and Hinckley took his infamous dive on doctrine on national TV.
But you are right, Blixa, back in the day, 1829, when JSJr didn't know better, he snuck that old Original Sin concept there into his religious magnum opus, the Book of Mormon.

Why would God create his own natural enemy?
That's like penguins creating killer whales.

Does that make God a natural enemy to man?

Or like killer whales creating penguins--so they can consume them?

Isn't this just another way of saying, "people gravitate toward being lazy if they don't stay motivated with a feeling of self worth and purpose"? In theological speak, enemy to God means being lazy and yielding to the Spirit means motivating self.
It seems to be the typical self-help pep-talk. The reason it is "self-help" is because getting God's help requires a lot of "self-work".

Yes. An enemy until you fix yourself.

Why? And if it's really
self-help, then what the hell does God have to do with it? Is God just Tony Robbins on steroids?
