For some reason I think BCspaces thinks we are lying when we say the bishop asked me if I masturbated. Lets see if most people got asked or just a few of us.

I put a seperate choice for the girls because they usually didn't get asked. I was talking to this one Mormon girl recently and she said she got asked in a bishops interview recently and she is 26 years old. I said to her that bishop of yours is one creepy guy. He probably wanted to hear all about her masturbation "problems".

Maybe you could add a choice that says, "I was asked but I told him to mind his own damn business!"

(I never actually said that but I wish I had.)

Oh yes, beginning at 12. The Bishop rounded all the youth up and asked us all if we masturbated (individually, of course). That was always asked when I was a youth, at every personal interview. It was also asked when I was getting ready to go on a mission, and they also asked my whole group in the MTC at some point. I was never asked after that, as a returned missionary, nor did my mission president ever ask (and I was probably the only missionary in my mission who never whacked off, as I was slightly older and slightly less horny than the others).

Now, the Bishop who asked me at 12 was actually a nice guy, not a creep. He felt he was doing his duty by asking - the church makes good men act like creeps.

When I was growing up this was part of the regular one to one interviews with male youth conducted by the Bishop(s). We were all asked about it from time to time. The Stake President also asked about it during interviews with him.

I am not aware of the regularity of the question for girls but I do know an occasion when three of them were specifically quizzed by the Stake President about if they 'suffered' with wet dreams and if, when they woke from them they continued with some 'touching of themselves'. One girl didn't know what he meant and had to ask for an explanation.
Perhaps they were lying (I wasn't in the interviews) but they all separately mentioned it and they weren't friends.
Thinking back now I feel like I should have reported this to someone.

I've heard a lot of stories about this. Unfortunately the church policy on youth interviews gives a lot of pervs a lot of access to both youth so they can get their jollies by making them tell detailed stories about masturbation.

Every interview before my mission and during my mission, plus most interviews at BYU and even some after I got married. Seems like the topic never gets old for some people.

granted, those guys thought they were doing God's work. Education would have helped. Is it just to call the ignorant idiots? Maybe it's more appropriate to vent your frustration on the system, which is really at fault here. The system, by the way, has much bigger pockets, in case you might consider employing an attorney to help recover.

My bishop admitted to me that he does ask when I asked him to never ask my children that question.

Was this the same bishop your son intimated had asked? Was he asked before or after you requested the bishop not to ask that?

PS: I was asked. I never felt like my bishops and counselors who asked were pervs, it was more matter-of-fact, and it seemed like they simply believed it was spiritually relevant. Still, pretty dumb question, and a dumb teaching.
