The LDS Church does not have any official doctrine that precludes same-sex marriage.

Deal with it.

Would the Proclamation on the Family be considered official doctrine, at least by TBMs?

What is there in the Proclamation on the Family that precludes same-sex marriage?

Quite a few TBM's don't have this illusion that there is such a thing as official doctrine. You only start finding this official doctrine nonsense when people start learning about the church's past teachings and actions and start getting into fair or other apologia.

And when one goes to the Church's own explaination.

Sorry that explanation of official doctrine is merely opinion you are, however, welcome to point me to an official doctrine declaring what official doctrine is.

If I recall correctly

One recent conference talk by Packer contained him claiming the Proclamation on The Family as 'revelation'. This was subsequently retracted and edited out of the transcript of the talk when it was published.

I guess that means The Proclamation is just someone speaking as a man.

I am sorry.
The words to use are proclamation and explanation - if I may ask.

You americans have a trouble with "i".
proclaimation, explaination, diety, athiest and so on.

This is off and I am a grammatic nazi.

Also, there is no evidence that Brigham Young and Joseph Smith were not gay lovers.

Hmmm....I'm beginning to see another reason for Oliver getting so cross when he caught Joseph in the barn with Fanny....
