Mormon weddings are based on lust

Most Mormon marriages seem, to me, based on lust. You have two young people who can't have sex, can't masturbate. They're horny as hell, and they're looking for a release. That's why all the three month engagements in Utah. There was a study done, though, that men's judgement is severely impaired when they're horny. Not much of a basis for marriage, is it?
Whereas, you have two "sinful" people who are having sex a month or two or three into the relationship, and they're not going to be basing their decision to marry on lust. It's going to be based on love and compatibility.
Discuss.

The church teaches (or it has been taught) that any two "righteous" people can make a successful marriage.
The criteria is very simple. They need to be able to take you to the temple and you should be willing to copulate with the person.

Welp. I can tell you that in my experience, and having been as about TBM as one can be your observations are pretty accurate. I recall clearly thinking it's better to get married than violate the Law of Chastity. Two young adults simply aren't going to be able to resist their nature, and using marriage as a workaround is an unfortunate side effect of this religion.
On the flip side, people being permiscuous has its pitfalls, too. How many young adults, who are sexaully active, end up making a baby or picking up a STD? Perhaps getting married isn't so bad... ?

I think you're right. I don't think I've ever heard of any Mormon wanting to marry to start a cohesive family unit designed to raise children. For LDS its all about getting busy.

If you have seen the pictures of BY's wives then you would clearly know how wrong you are. That or BY was horribly near sighted.

I would be willing to wager that most marriages, Mormon or no, are based on lust.

Raising children = religious duty
Getting married six weeks after meeting Miss Right Now = lust

BY may have been gay. He certainly preferred the company of men.

Well, we know that Brigham Young and Joseph Smith were homosexual lovers.
Defenders of Mormonism have failed to conclusively refute this assertion, and until they do, I think we can safely rely on the default position that the assertion is true.

Indeed. If there is anything we've learned from mopologetics, it's that unsupported unlikely possibility is as good as plausibility is as good as probability. See sig.
