Journalist: "Yes, I'd like to know if your Church ever taught that blacks were cursed and the children of Cain?"
LDS Public Affairs: "No, absolutely not! That has never been a doctrine of the Church!"
J: "Really, but I read it was."
LDS: "Well, you know, that's a lot of inaccurate information about the Church around."
J: "So, you are saying that the Curse of Cain Doctrine was not taught by top Church leaders?"
LDS: "Absolutely not!"
J: "But I have the quotes!"
LDS: "Well, you know, you, they, they were only expressing their personal opinions, not Church doctrine."
J: "But, these quotes are from General Conference talks, are you saying that when Presidents and Apostles speak in General Conference, they are only giving their personal opinions?"
LDS: "Well, you know, they were only repeating things they heard some Members say, in order to, well, in order to condemn those things, they weren't expressing their own beliefs, but merely repeating the views of some misinformed Members in order to condemn those views."
J: "So, are you saying that Mormon leaders never really believed that blacks were the cursed and inferior children of Cain, less valiant in the War in Heaven, but were only repeating false views of some misinformed Members, then declaring such views were false?"
LDS: "Exactly!"
J: "How long do you think you'll get away with your lying and deception on this matter?"
LDS: "We're not lying."
J: "Yes, you are."
LDS: "No we're not! We believe in being honest, chaste, anything that is praiseworthy, we seek these things".
