10. I have made great friends here.
9. It's one of the few places left on the net uncontaminated by emoticons.
8. Ray can rip me to shreds, but I know he still loves me.
7. I don't have to go all the way to MDD for my daily dose of smugness.
6. I can grind axes as much as I want, and no one will stop me.
5. I can be considered vulgar and offensive without actually being vulgar and offensive.
4. My stalkers have left me alone for a while.
3. It's the only Mormon-related board where I could have a reasonably intelligent discussion about postmodernism.
2. People understand my depression and self-esteem issues and have been loving and supportive.
1. I can say what I'm thinking, and I won't be treated like pond scum or banned

It's good you have gratitude Runtu, even for a simple thing like MDB. We have at least three "thankful for" threads here and I appreciate the holiday cheer ya'll are spreading. There's quite a few "happy T-day" sentiments being expressed on other threads as well.

Interestingly, when I checked my email this morning, while I admit I did get one "Happy Thanksgiving" e-card from a TBM family member, I also received two forwarded right-wing chain letters. One regarding some political Bible interpretation and the other asking for a "divorce" from all liberals in the country -- just in time for the holiday season. I checked MDD today as well, and there is only a single and very unpopular Thanksgiving thread; leftovers from yesterday in fact. All the fuss is on the "moderation goals" they made up to make fun of this board. What a great way to spend Thanksgiving.

I also popped in on the John Adams Center. I was curious to see if they'd conjure up some eloquent treatise on turkey dinners, family, and the constitution. Nope. Their "Happy Thanksgiving" message is an attack on some Huffington Post writer, basically calling her Satan.

Unexpected though it may be, "anti-Mormon" spots like MDB may be the worlds best online hope for preserving holiday cheer and gratitude this season.
