It seems to me that it really comes down to there only being ONE true and great commandment.

Thou shalt do anything "god" tells you to do.

So, one day god might say not to kill people and that is what you have to follow. The next day he might tell you to go and murder and entire village of people (and their animals) and that is what you have to follow.

In each case what you are doing is righteous. Why? Because god said so. Er, okay, it wasn't exactly god, it was a man. The leader of your tribe or church told you that god told him in a dream or in his mind that that was what god wanted you to do.

Now, you can always trust god. He never tells lies and he would certainly never try to trick anyone. Er, okay, there was that time he told Abraham that he had to kill one of his sons in a human sacrificial offering and then changed his mind last second. There was also the time he told the LDS church they wouldn't have to break the laws of the land to obey him and turned around and told them to break the bigamy law. But, still, you can trust him. When you get those thoughts in your mind that you just know are from god you can trust it! Go with it. Do whatever the voices or thoughts tell you to do.

I really hope this post has been helpful. If we all just do anything church leaders or the voices in our heads, oops I mean god, tells us to do we will be exalted on high and become joint heirs with Christ.

Obedience to what a man tells you God wants you to do was a tool that worked well in subjugating others in ancient times. JSJr tried to reintroduce in the 19th Century, on the heels of the Age of Reason.

Some like the comfort of just being obedient to what those who claim to be speaking for God tell them to do.

Others do not.

Spot on. I can't abide the moral relativism of theism. I'm infinitely more moral than this "god" character.

That's because they are stuck with a "god" that was contrived of men that lived in more brutal times (2000 BC to 300 AD). By committing what they thought a powerful "god" would do to writing, they fixed him in that period of time.

JSJr, at just 24 years of age, regurgitated the New Testament "god", and then over the next 14 years realized it was better for his efforts to consolidate his power over his followers, the Saints, if he remade his god to be much more of an Old Testament one.

Although I think your "one" is much more applicable to the believing masses.

Will we be held accountable for anything we do that we sincerely believe God was telling us to do? It seems to me that one of the reasons people do not want to question authority is that it absolves them of responsibility.

It is your intent that matters. If your intent is to obey god it will be counted unto you as righteousness.

Will the lafferty's be found "spotless before god"?

This great commandment makes the Light of Christ completely pointless. If the Light of Christ tells everyone right from wrong, but the only wrong is disobeying Elohim...

For example: Nephi's conscience (LoC?) told him that decapitating the drunken, passed out Laban was wrong. The voice in his head (god/HG) told him to do it anyway.
