2 Nephi 31:3 wrote:For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.
Now, that's the Most Correct Book on Earth that explains that the Lord God speaks to men in their language, in a way they will understand.
But we see mopologists frequently disassembling that plainness--opting instead for a sophistry from their 'closer looks' than what the modern dispensation's prophets, seers and revelators have understood this plain speaking God to have said.
Abraham 4:8 wrote:And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and this was the second time that they called night and day.
Chapter 4 of Abraham reiterates the Genesis creation of the world in six days. Now, this was God's second go at it. If Genesis was misinterpreted over time, then in 1835-1842, God had the opportunity to correct it, and get it right, and give it to JSJr in plainness according to his language (English) and unto the understanding of mankind of the term "day" in English, as of the first half of the 19th Century.
You might consider Abraham 4 to be a second witness of the creation of the world in 6 days.
Seems God must have meant what he said, in the understanding of English in the 1830s and 1840s.
So, mopologists, do you want to take a stab at constructing an argument that the English term "day" in the 1830s and 1840s meant eons of time, not what we understand a day means today.
