The newest ward in the South Bend-Mishawaka Indiana area is called the Notre Dame Ward. I bet Our Lady is happy to have a ward named in her honor.

I bet 98% of the membership doesn't know what are the meaning - may I say the
translation - of that words are.
Or the cultural background of that words...

You'd be surprised. Here in the South Bend area the University of Notre Dame is an overwhelming presence and the knowledge of the French translation of Notre Dame is well known. It wasn't unusual for Lou Holtz to refer to "Our Lady's University." People here know what it means.

OK. I am certain You know it better.
It is interesting, by the way.
Advanced searching "virgin Mary" said by
- President of the Church
- First Presidency, or
- Quorum of the Twelve
gives 1 (one) match: Joseph B. Wirthlin, October 1996 General Conference (and the november Ensign article of that address)
The church is not noted for overemphasizing Our Lady... (or the Holy Cross, either).
Edited to add: I've found it:
The University of Notre Dame, founded in 1842 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, is an independent, national
Catholic university located in Notre Dame, Indiana.
The ward is not called after Our Lady, but the place.

Except the only things in Notre Dame, IN are the University of Notre Dame, St. Mary's College and Holy Cross College. It is not a town. There might be two or three Mormons who live on campus, most famously Manti Te'o.
