Thanks Morley, I'm in the US, so I'm good.

WOW.

I have had -0-, ZERO spammers register on my forums since I upgraded, and that was on Oct 26, 2011. Imagine that, not a single one.

All right, that does it; I'm sold.

EVERYONE:

I just got off the phone with Mav, the owner of the site. He says that he'll upgrade the board for us. Hopefully, once that's done, I can un-ban EVERYTHING and then the stuff I posted here in this thread will be moot.

Dear Community:

Thanks to the helpful tip from Infymus, we're now upgraded. Thanks to the spambot countermeasures now available to me, ALL IP address ranges are now unbanned--meaning you may now login, register, and post from any Internet-enabled computer on Planet Earth.

As such, please disregard the opening post of this thread.

Have a GREAT day,
"Shades"

Shades, your registration still is trying to bring up the old way which is Captcha, which isn't installed or isn't working. I just tried to "register" and got this:

To prevent automated registrations the board requires you to enter a confirmation code. The code is displayed in the image you should see below. If you are visually impaired or cannot otherwise read this code please contact the %sBoard Administrator%s.

You need to go to Admin Control Panel ~ Spambot Countermeasures -

Then make sure the "Installed Plugins" dropdown is "Q&A". Then click on the configure button under that and do your questions by clicking the "Add" button. You can add as many as you want.

Keep testing it until you get it right because right now nobody can register.

Darn.... I get no kudos for saying the same thing.... :(

Of course, I have no idea the lastest features of the lasted PHPBB, so I guess that's why me not special.

Hey Infymus.... They didn't design it so you could use BOTH Image Captcha and Question Verification?
If not, that's dumb. That's the best security, and it's easy to implement.

No, it's one or the other. Use the Q&A. I've never really seen the captchas work well with forums. Plus the ones avail to phpBB generally suck.
