Spirituality of the senses

I grew up thinking that the Holy Spirit spoke to us through a 6th sense. With a different view of the world, I now consider it impossible to use a 6th sense. This doesn't mean we don't have "spirituality"! All it means to me is that we can use our God-given senses for divine inspiration. Isn't that better anyway? Seems more efficient and meaningful. The following examples are demonstrations of spiritual moments I truly savor.
Smell:
What I smelled in a Sikh temple in Old Delhi when they made food for the poor.
Sight:
The statue of Mary in the local Catholic church
Touch:
Warm shower after a bike ride in the cold
Hearing:
Mormon tab choir or Lady Gaga
Taste:
Hot tea
I believe!
How about you?

Jersey Girl and I would add under smell: setting off "caps" with a hammer or rock (the rolls you used to put in cap gums).

You know if you hit the whole roll with the hammer it made a lot more of the smell, not to mention noise.

I remember the very day I figured that out.

OMG, hehe, I hammered rolls of caps as a kid. I'm lucky to have all my fingers actually, as I had a firecracker go off that I was holding in my fingers when I was about 4 or 5 years old.
by the way, for a really good bang, try hitting a large rifle primer with a hammer. Wear eye-pro though.
Zeez, I disagree with you on Lady Gaga. Seeing her convinces me there must be a devil, not a God. ;-)

Loved those things. Love the new avatar, Fence!
Zee, love the list. I would add emotion. I think that spirituality may just be a subset of emotion (if that makes any sense). Our ability to feel love and attraction, peace and excitement are all spiritual experiences, to me.

Cap gun smells! Brings back the memories!

Dear Sethbag,
I'm sorry you feel that way. My experience at her concert transcends many, many hours of church put together. I guess I just don't see sparks shooting out of breasts as bad devil. Sure, it's devilish but not bad devil.
Sincerely,
Zee.

Smell:
The aroma of a thick slice of whole wheat bread, still warm from the oven.
Sight:
The eerily beautiful glow of bioluminescence in the night jungle.
Touch:
The surprise a warm, thin hand on the back of your neck.
Hearing:
Eta James’ last, sad concert at Red Butte.
Taste:
Toothpicks, soaked in cinnamon oil, scalding your lips and tongue.
I have to agree with Zeez. If there were a god, she’d be in these things.
