"I'm a Mormon" question.

Just curious as to what the Church says about members who do their own "I'm a Mormon" videos. I mean, what if a gal with multiple piercings or a guy with a tattoo on his neck decided to share their beliefs in the Gospel and made their own "I'm a Mormon" video. Does the Church have some sort of copyright or would you be called in if you did not look like a cookie cutter member?

The church has asked ALL members to make a profile...so, I don't think it is gonna be a problem. I really do not believe they are using it as a vehicle to smoke out heretics.

I've been trying to get my Mormon.org profile accepted for more than a year now. They are totally hung up on my solution for the porn problem. They keep rejecting all my variants on the solution. You see, Fiannan, it is actually very difficult to get in there. You have to fit all their criteria to a T.

I don't want to derail, but since you happen to be sort of interested in this subject, I will impose on you with a little, sweet divulgence. My proposed solution to the porn problem in the church is that you take the idea of Satan out of the equation. Here is the Church's current logic:

I + S = P

where
I = imagery that aroses the sacred, procreative powers
S = Satan
P = big problem

I propose this, revised equation:

I = LP

I is the same as above
LP is (not linear programming) but rather "Less of a Problem"

OK, sorry about the divergence. That was sort of bigger than I thought.

To the OP: no, the church has tight control over what is proclaimed to the world about their image.

You, sir, have just thrown down the gauntlet. I will now make an attempt to write an apostate "I am a Mormon" page and get it published.

Loser buys beer.

So while it may not be posted in with the others at Mormon.org, as zeezrom suggests, you can stick your own onto YouTube in sort of a freelance way, right?

You could always do that...

Fiannan,

I will be obvious you did yours in your garage with ameteur equipment. The ads done by the church cost bucks. People will know instantly that your video is not the real deal. They may not take you seriously.

Zee.

Hey, amateur works for America's only growth industry, right? It might actually have an appeal that the fancy stuff doesn't.

It looks like you have won! I just recently have read an "apostate I am a Mormon page". I'm not sure if it was you who did it but someone has worked out a way to. I'm not going to link to it here because I'm enjoying it still being online on the official website and I know if it was linked directly it would most likely disappear immediately.

I'll see how long it stays up and post the text if it gets removed. It is actually hilarious. Where's that beer?

Thanks,

I saw it - it's awesome.
