I tried to tell TBM family that Mormons can't be Democrats

So I was sharing with my TBM family the doctrine that you cannot be a Democrat and a good Mormon. We know this doctrine is true because BC Space teaches it, and he is a guru on LDS doctrine. Droopy also preaches this doctrine, so it has been testified to us by at least 2 witnesses, therefore it must be true.
However, when I tried to share this doctrine with some TBM family members, they got defensive. Even though they are probably all republicans, they didn't believe the church could enforce political party affiliation. After all, they argued, Harry Reid is a democrat. They even accused me of spreading anti-mormon lies. Can you believe that? Something I learned from Mormon apologists is considered an anti-mormon lie to my chapel Mormon family members. So thanks a lot Droopy and BC Space for getting me in even more trouble with my TBM family.

I have never said this. What I have said is that by doctrinal comparison with the issues, it is not possible for a good Mormon to be a Democrat.

Here, I'll help you out. Any Mormon Democrat who uses their membership, their TR, etc. as evidence to justify their political positions as acceptable to God must by default believe that membership or a TR etc. is some sort of automatic ticket to salvation or the CK because it makes their political positions okay. Nothing could be further from the truth in LDS doctrine and I guarantee that they will be forced agree that none of these things in and of themselves assures eternal life so now they are stuck and can't logically justify political liberalism with the Gospel.
So thanks a lot Droopy and BC Space for getting me in even more trouble with my TBM family.
You're most welcome. And thanks for getting them to start thinking about the logical and practical implications of believing the Gospel.

Most Mormons Democrat's are stuck in the old days in which most Democrat's were actually still mostly conservatives, but simply maybe wrong sometimes on some issues. They don't realize they are on the wrong side now, deceived by appearances and feelings instead of knowing truth.
Today, no good Mormon can be a Democrat because today's Democrat ideology is entirely anti-Restored Gospel. Entitlement mentality, communist, socialist, etc. is not even close to LDS theology, it is a perversion. They don't understand the radicals of the 60's have taken over the Democrat party. No good Mormon should be an Occupy Wall Street or Democrat of today.
DarkHelmet..... Maybe if you had been more clear with the actual facts, they would have been more receptive, even though likely still not understand or agree.

I was told to read about this today: Free-market environmentalism
I'm sure this philosophy originated from Jesus.

Looking out for one another is always compatible with the New Testament Gospel. On the other hand, the greed is good approach of unrestrained capitalism is antithetical to the same Gospel.
