The Ledge

Post by _sock puppet »

Saw the tag description for a 2011 movie playing on my DirecTV satellite channels: The Ledge (2011) An extreme Fundamentalist takes revenge on an atheist making him choose between his own life ending or that of another person.

I haven't watched the film, but thought the storyline sounds promising, and thought the dynamic the atheist faces to be a thought provoking one.

Anyone seen it?

I rented "The Ledge" a couple months ago based on a recommendation from a friend.

I liked it. Without giving away too much of the movie, the atheist guy is on a building ledge with the intent to commit suicide at a certain time. The rest of the movie is dialogue between the cop trying to talk him down, and flashbacks that tell the story of what led him to the ledge in the first place. All the while the cop is dealing with a crisis of his own having just discovered that he has been sterile his whole life, yet he has two kids at home (Uh-oh).

The Fundie couple (easily could have been LDS) live next door to the atheist guy and attempt to convert him. The Fubdie hubby is wound a little too tight, the wife (Liv Tyler) on the other hand is a little more open minded and falls for the atheist guy.

I would watch it again. Although I am not a film producer or director (I did take the movie class at BYU three times for my Humanities credit though), I thought up an ending or two that would have played out just as well.

**Added Bonus** - You get to see Liv Tyler's boobs.

Enjoy.
