What concerns me is this: the Book of Mormon, the book that Mitt Romney and all Mormons embrace as divinely revealed scripture that is more sacred, more true, and more inerrant than any other holy book on earth, declares that black people are cursed. That's right. Cursed. And not only accursed, but lazy and aesthetically ugly to boot.

He obviously didn't do his homework. Considering what this "PHD" means by "black people", the Book of Mormon says no such thing.

No he didn't.... He just regurgitates standard anti-mormonism that is found on any anti-mormon website.

What a liar. If he voted, and I bet he did, there is a 95% he voted for Obama and so yes, he IS trying to accuse Romney of racism by inaccurately saying the Book of Mormon speaks about black Africans. "Gotcha" all the way.

Everyone, bcspace is technically right. The Book of Mormon doesn't refer to black Africans or black African Americans when it talks about people being cursed with a skin of blackness so that they wouldn't be enticing to the fair skinned people.

The big problem isn't with the guy's main thesis -- Mormons certainly did believe that blacks were cursed for a long, long time -- but with his using the Book of Mormon as his chief evidence. It's just incorrect and unnecessary.

Exactly. Mormons weren't racist against black people because of the Book of Mormon; they were (and are) racist against Native Americans. Mormons were racist against people with black skin of African descent because of the Book of Abraham and latter-day revelation to their prophets, such as Brigham Young, Joseph Fielding Smith, and Mark E. Petersen. I can understand why Mormons would be upset with him getting those facts wrong.
