Prophet = foretell the coming of Christ

I was reading about the history of Christianity this afternoon and was reminded of something: the purpose of a prophet is to foretell the coming of Christ. This is why you see prophets in the Old Testament and not the New Testament.

Naturally, I asked myself, what about the Book of Mormon? Do we see prophets mentioned in that book after Christ appeared to the people?

I do not see it.

The Book of Mormon seems to be consistent with the Bible on the definition of a prophet. Prophets abound up to the day he comes but are nowhere to be found afterwards.

Now we have Mormon prophets again. Funny, because they have nothing do! Christ has already come. No wonder they don't prophecy.

I bet Joseph Smith knew a prophet's role: to foretell the coming of Christ. Maybe this is why he never developed a plan for succession? Evidence that Joseph really believed Christ was on His way.

It could be that BY changed the definition of prophet.
