I cleaned my place today.

My sister told my mom my bathroom was dirty...

Museums, zoos, mountains, parks, fairs, festivals of many types and so on. Usually the local paper carries a calendar of events in your town and the surrounding area.

I went to the laundromat because my washing machine broke, and then I went and bought a washing machine. I don't recommend doing this every Sunday.

The ward meetinghouse where I used to attend is built close to a creek that leads to Lake Ontario. The contour of the land is such that the chapel is built on an elevated plateau with the west side of the property sloping down through a sparsely wooded grove. The slope is hilly and is approximately 150-200 feet to from the top of the hill to the bottom.

Today, as I pulled into the parking lot to pick up my son after Sunday services, two boys, probably around 12 years old, were bundled up and sledding down the hill. Those two boys had the right idea. I can tell you from experience, when you come out of the chapel at 12:30 on a cold winter day, dressed in Sunday best, and you look over to the west side of the property and see kids using that hill for what god intended it to be used for, you feel more than a tinge of envy; you actually feel the shackles.

And I'll tell you, it's might hard to come up with a good excuse when your own 12 year old asks why he can't be out sledding on beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Go sledding on Monday for family home evening. This is what god may have intended it be used for. And if you are there with him and the other boys are alone, well, it is a good reason for them to envy your son.

Find a female board member to cyber stalk and lecture as if you're her step-dad. That's always a fun thing to do on Sundays.

I didn't say they were abandoned by their father.

Well, zee, from a guy with experience...everything becomes a routine sooner than later. The beach every sunday may become boring. The mall every other day, may become boring. Hiking in the park every saturday may become boring. Such is life and routines. Very difficult to be original with a world of routines.

Maybe the kids will be thrilled with church again, a place to be with their friends.
