Bigotry toward Mormons provokes too little outrage

Imagine what you would say if people announced in the media that there was no way Rotarians, Californians, Jews or those who have attended grad school should be allowed to be President.
Do you imagine there would be a loud hue and cry? I think it would be very loud and forceful.

People wonder whether a Mormon will feel beholden to their Church over the interests of the country in a way that isn't relevant for those groups. That's not to say the reason why being a Mormon is a liability in a Republican primary - that has a lot to do with identity politics and religious competition - but it is different that being a Californian. The best comparison is the pre-JFK fear over Catholics taking office, which was based in part on a real legacy of papal influence over the leaders of civil governments.
Being a Jew is a liability for running for president, by the way.

I'm up for any Rotarians, Californians, Jews or those who have attended grad schools.
I am concerned that a Mormon President might carry an agenda based on his (or her) religious beliefs. They are a little out of the mainstream. A Presidential proclamation forcing Congress to be served green Jello at every luncheon is a little scary.

True, but the man has no taste. Look at how he dresses (not to mention his haircut).

Indeed, anti-mormonism does cause too little outrage, which is why anti-mormons are so surprised when I call them bigots, liars, etc.
They don't understand that they ARE bigots, and DESERVE the outrage against them.
