This thought has been bouncing around my head for some time but I haven't been able to verbalize it until I read that.

I would change it a bit to say:

Believing in Mormonism is an exercise of trying to hold two different, logically opposing views in one's mind at the same time, and attempt to make them mesh.

It seems like this theme is everywhere in my thoughts lately.

Some examples:
polygamy is bad --- polygamy will be practiced in the celestial kingdon
God Jesus and the Holy Ghost are one --- God Jesus and the Holy Ghost are 3 separate beings
so and so is a prophet --- so and so sometimes speaks as a man
revelation from god --- revelation from man or devil
killing is bad --- killing is good if god commands it
lamanites bad --- lamanites good
nephites good --- nephites bad
the church that Joseph started --- the church we have today
ouija boards bad --- seer stones, peep stones, nephite interpreters good
ghosts bad --- angels good
satan is god's son, just like Jesus --- satan is the source of evil, no good

etc

What are other opposing views that go along with Mormonism.

Another one I just thought of is "Family First" unless you are in leadership, and unless your calling needs you more.

Such as (a) The Brethren are Prophets, Seers, and Revelators and (b) The final battle did not happen in New York at the hill Cumorah.

Welcome to the world of Cognitive dissonance. Your best bet is a large shelf

It has nothing to do with "cognitive dissonance", it's simply that in PARTICULAR CONTEXTS both statements are true. One is true in one context, the other true in another.

Just because you all are "children" in your thinking patterns, unable to understand complexity and depth of anything, doesn't mean the rest of us to do understand and see the details, are actually suffering from cognitive dissonance.

Anti-mormon ignorance and fantasy's from their OWN MINDS of Mormons and Mormonism, is not the Mormons cognitive dissonance.

You're JUST FRIGGEN IGNORANT..... Is that so really complicated to understand???

I mean, some of you used to think anti-mormons were ignorant, then you changed and think now Mormons are ignorant.... Did you ever think that you're actually ignorant still??? That your understanding before while simple, was actually correct? I actually know for sure.... Been there.

Lying is bad, unless you are lying for the Lord, then it's good.

Ignorance is bad, unless you are ignorant for the Lord, then it's good.

All I know is that my experience was one that cut me to the core, that left a gaping wound deep into my soul, that shook the foundations of my marriage and my family. I tried to cling to the one truth, which comforted me, and for so many years that I diligently sought after, and the other truth, which I fought to reconcile, which scared me, which left me very alone.

My previous statement was based on my experience of not shelving it, but taking it on headlong, too much and too fast. It may have seemed as a shallow/hollow statement … an echo of others … but it is not.

It was the most devastating time of my life. I hope that your two truths continue to work for you, or at least one of them does not ever come crashing down too quickly, with the emotional/interpersonal Tsunami that follows.
