I saw a Tapir at the zoo today

I was carried away in the spirit and I thought I saw a herd of tapirs in the attitude of carrying their warrior Nephites and Lamanites to battle.
Tears were shed,
The Spirit was felt,
Memories were made...

Translation loose or tight, a horse is a horse. Not a tapir or a dog or a giant ant.

I love those little fellas. We saw one recently. Very cute and cuddly.

Has anyone noted before that the Book of Mormon battles did not include horses. No chariots are spoken of in their battles. Mormon said he led his army in the front by himself. Since horses are a huge tactical advantage they should have been spoken to it used at all. I believe the Book of Mormon took place in the Andes Mountain and along the Pacific Coast from Peru to Colombia. Only Lamanite kings are referred to as riding chariots. Perhaps there were very few horses that did not thrive for whatever reason in that area. I wonder if horses thrive in this region today?

now correct me if I am wrong..... but isn't most of the area you are describing the Atacama Desert & Sechura Desert, recognized as the driest place on Earth? Not much grows there period.

Those Deserts are certainly there. But that is not the most of the area of the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith once said Lehi landed about the 30 degree of South latitude in Chile. That would be smack dab on the Atacama Desert. Little wonder that the lost no time climbing up into the foothills. And another remarkable evidence is that the sea shore is not mentioned until the narrow neck of land which would put it North of Peru at the Gulf of Guayaquil where I think the Land Bountiful was. I think Cajamarca Peru IS Zarahemla. And the Marana river is Sidon.
Your point about the arid coastal plain confirms my thesis of Book of Mormon geography another layer. You can note how consistently the Book of Mormon people stayed away from the coast in the South. And more to the point; there was no savanna where wild horses could thrive. In fact there are no grazing herds of wild animals anywhere in the Andes except LLama and Alpaca in the higher altitudes.No?
