My $0.02

I don't think it was a coincidence that your name was mentioned specifically during a meeting that your daughter attended. I suspect your name was added in by inspiration when they saw her sat in the congregation. The Ward Mission leader probably felt a warm glow of peace for the whole week afterwards. He'd done his job, he'd reached out to you and assuaged his guilt for not feeling a good enough Ward Mission leader.

You could request a public apology from the pulpit from the Ward Mission leader for gossiping in his talk to the ward about the reason for your non attendance. At the end of the apology they should add the correction that you no longer attend, not because you have gone astray, but because the Church is demonstrably fraudulent and untrue.

Ask them for the date this is going to be read out so that you and your lawyer can attend to witness it.

It won't happen but you could make the Ward Mission leader sweat for his mistake.

Why Me, you should stop trying to comment on other people's personal lives. Just stick to what you know best - light cotton.

And the horror of the ongoing Catholic abuse scandal has what to do with this?

We need to put life in perspective. One person makes a comment in sacrament when they gave a talk and all heck is now breaking loose. One person made a mistake and now with the pundits on the board, it is a major event that goes right to salt lake. It is just a little over board and needs a rational head like mine to put it all in perspective.

I don't think the issue is that someone made a mistake that cannot be forgiven. To me, the issue is that no one else in the ward found it strange for a family to be mentioned by name in that manner. Had I been in that ward, I would have said something. And, who knows? Maybe someone did express concern to the bishop privately about it. I would have.

Also, had I known LDST's children, I would have likely told them that I was astonished that their folks had been brought up in that manner, and hope that they didn't take offense.

Understood and I agree (Sorry if I came across that way as it was surely not my intent)

And you know this? We have no idea how the ward reacted. We have no idea who said what to whom. H. wasn't there and his wife wasn't there. And so what do we know?

We have the word of LDST's kids. That is what we are basing this account on. Why would his kids lie to him?

Also, did you read my entire post?

I wasn't attacking you. I was attempting to fine-tune where some of the confusion is coming from.

I also agreed with you that we don't know what a ward member might have said to the bishop privately. Maybe they were upset.

That is why, I suggested, if LDST is concerned, it might not be a bad idea for him to speak with the bishop about it privately.

We know that LDST, his wife, and his children were used by and for others.

We know that LDST, his wife, and his children were judged and thrown under the bus, from the pulpit, to the entire congregation.

We know that this person was way out of bounds (under any/all circumstances)

We know that you always stand with things and never for things.

We know that your vision in extremely poor.

We know that you continue to crap on, dismiss, and take away from the many things that human beings share on this board.
