On Jon McNaughton's website, he says it is to remind us of the rooster that crowed three times and made Peter weep bitterly for denying Christ. Americans are also in a state of denial, see. Nothing random about a Jon McNaughton painting, fo' shore.

So the chains are symbolic of the horror of being enslaved to a black president??? Waaay too far for me.
