We all know the story of doubting Thomas. He didn't believe the rumor that Jesus was back - he had to see for himself.

"Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Let's forget for a moment the troubling precedent this sets in being rewarded for believing every wild rumor you hear. Presumably Thomas was in the clear though. Maybe his mansion in heaven isn't as big as Peter's, but he's got to be doing all right for himself.

So, my question is, where is the Thomas option for me? I don't believe. I'd like to see for myself. I'm okay with a smaller townhouse on Kolob or up in the clouds or wherever. Just show me something concrete. The ear of Christ. Moroni's flaming sword. Deutero-Isaiah on brass plates written before 600 BCE. Anything like that would great.

I'm with Buffalo on this, though, to be perfectly honest, my preference would be for a burning bush...

I think you want to avoid the burning ones. Unless you are double-bagging.

To be honest, even if Christ showed up in person to tell me that yes, gays are bad, blacks needed punishing, women are inferior and child abuse needs to be allowed to happen, I think I'd still be taking a pass on Mormonism and the CK.

He dropped the ball on slavery though, didn't he? Missed his big chance to make a difference.

You got that right. The god of the Bible certainly allowed for slavery. But we know that the Bible was written by men who simply wrote that crap to woo their customers into following them. The Bible is man made. Not even Hoopy-boy can disprove that. It's a scientific fact that every sentence of the Bible was written by the mortal physical hand of man. God never came down in front of the nations to prove he was saying that stuff. The prophets made wild claims just like Joe Smith made claims about what was written in the writing of Facsimile No. 3. Bible prophets are no better than Joe. Just read their garbage: Noah and the ark! Jonah and the whale! Mark of the beast!

It should also be considered that Thomas knew Christ was real. He heard him teach. He saw him perform miracles. He had the testimony of the other apostles that Christ had resurrected. And despite all of that Thomas still did not believe. Still he had to see for himself. We have much less to go on, so our request to see for ourselves is more justified than that of Thomas.
I would choose to forego the extra blessings and see for myself as well.
