From New Jersey?

Post by _cafe crema »

I can't say I have a lot of interaction with people from New Jersey so I wouldn't be expert in recognizing the accent but no one in these trailers sounds to me like they're from New Jersey. Right?

Hello Crema!

Your post was the only post I read during my 2 week posting hiatus! As I stated elsewhere, contrary to popular belief and assumption, we don't all speak like the cast of Jersey Shore. I can't know for sure if Jazmyn is really from S. Jersey, but in my view, yes, the speaking I heard can definitely be representative of Jersey-ites. Typically, and this isn't 100% true, the further you get away from NYC, you hear a bit less of the accents that people attach to Jersey.

Truth be told, most of the time I've heard non-East Coasters attempt to imitate Jersey-speak, they produce something more akin to the accents of say, Brooklyn or the Bronx. Just my 2 cents on that.

If you were to hear my speaking voice, I think you wouldn't be able to guess that I'm from Jersey. Though, it effortlessly comes to the surface when I'm upset/ticked about something.

Which leads me to my next post...

Going out on a limb here...some of the posters here have heard my speaking voice in real life either in person or on the phone.

Be honest, did you hear what you believe a typical Jersey Girl speaks like?

Go ahead and divulge....I'm okay with it.

:-)

p.s. Remember we're not talking about attitude, we're talking about speech. :-D

It seems that this Mormon doesn't wear garments. I wonder if he is an active Mormon. If so, it just goes to show what I said earlier on these boards: people can be rather free when it comes to wearing garments.

Also, the mother has a jersey black accent. The girl, less so.

There is no indication that the man has ever been to the temple...hence no garmies.

I know nothing of Jersey accents in all their glory. I cannot add to that discussion. *sadface*
