Monson's legacies....
Monson's legacies....
1. Ever increasing rates of apostasy
2. Activism against gays
3. Mortally offending the Jewish religion
4. Rapidly reducing financial income
5. Ever decreasing convert retention rates
Mr Monson must be having sleepless nights presiding over the biggest shambles and catastrophies facing the Church since the periods preceding 1890 and 1978.
The organisation needs dynamic leadership and revolutionary change at every level. It doesn't need geriatric old men who's method of motivational speaking and leadership is rated as a significant cure for insomnia.

Re: Monson's legacies....
I have 2 close family members who were as staunch a TBM as they come until Monson became president. Both of them are now inactive and have left the church over Monson's leadership.
I have also heard other TBMs talk about how much they miss President Hinckley (and have received emails of that nature too).
Monson's conference talks are embarrassing even to active members. He is supposedly the Prophet of this WORLD....yet when he has the chance to speak to us twice a year, what does he do? He gets up there and gives a talk full of fluff and sings little primary diddies and tells stories about miraculous money in jean pockets.
He will not be remembered as a strong leader during a time when that's what members desperately needed.

The Mormon leaders are not apostles and prophets as they claim to be. They are caretakers of Mormonism and that is all. They are businessmen running a business (Mormon Inc). When was the last time you heard them get up front and talk about seeing God or Jesus? What great revelations have the received from God? What truths are they revealing to us nowdays that give us greater insights into the universe and mind of God?
In time, God will move these men out of their place and put in a true prophet with power and authority from God. Until then, we are stuck with these pretenders.

What's taking god so long? Doesn't he like the Mormons?

The Nephite colony had caretaker prophets after Nephi for centuries where not much went on except the same old same old. The same thing is happening today. We are left to our own devices unless we actively go seeking an answer. The same is true for the leaders of the church. They are merely men and often due to their pride and arrogance, they think they "know" what is best and that often goes terribly wrong over time.just me wrote:What's taking god so long? And who exactly is this "true prophet" going to be?
(Please don't say Packer...)
Re: Monson's legacies....
I'm hoping for someone of MLK's or Gandhi's stature - two modern-day prophets that I greatly admire. I can't say the same for Monson.Madison54 wrote:Tobin wrote:The Mormon leaders are not apostles and prophets as they claim to be. They are caretakers of Mormonism and that is all. Mormonism has never had anyone close to that.

So true.
Tobin,
I don't know you well on here, but I would imagine you have to know that there are no current members of the 12 who fit your description above (Uchtdorf is the closest in my mind...). You also must know the order of things when a Prophet passes away.
So, do you think that order will change? Or do you think this man is just not a member of the 12 yet?

I'm well aware of Mormon tradition. I don't see how it has any relevance to whom God deems worthy to call as a prophet though. Clearly, MLK and Gandhi were not apostles of the Mormon church and yet they were marvelous prophets. I'm sure when the time comes God will raise up someone for the Mormons as well (and I'm not expecting it will be any of the 12) since it may not be a man. I would hope it would be a woman that put them in their place.Madison54 wrote:So true.
