This is a great podcast. Bcspace could learn a lot here. The Adam-God doctrine isn't a mystery - it's quite clear what it was, and it's quite clear that it was official and orthodox doctrine for quite some time.

It's also pretty clear that for most of the 19th century Mormonism completely abandoned any pretense of Christianity.

The fact that you would make that statement as if it were meaningful here means you don't know anything about Adam-God. The doctrine is that Adam is our personal God period, not that Adam is Elohim or Jehovah. Jehovah is Adam's God, and Jesus is Adam's son.

Elohim/Jehovah are not our God, according to Brigham Young. Neither is Jesus Jehovah. Adam came to this earth with one of his wives, having previously fathered our spirits, ate the fruit in order to become mortal, copulated with Eve to create mortal children, then returned to an immortal state by eating celestial fruit. Later, Adam conceived Jesus by copulating with Mary (that's the source of BY teachings about Jesus being literally the son of God - Brigham was referring to Adam as Jesus' literal father). As Adam had returned to his celestial state, Jesus was part immortal, part mortal.

No, it's the only explanation that even remotely comes close to SAVING BRIGHAM. It doesn't jive with his actual teachings.

This is only a mystery to you because the church has lied about it for so long. All the latter-day saints from the mid 1840s to the end of Brigham Young's tenure understood it very well. It was taught to them in conference and in the temple. Adam is our God. Adam has his own god, but that's not our God. Our God is Adam, a.k.a. Michael. It's quite simple.

When you're ready to explain BY's statements differentiating between God the Father and Adam as well as the trying to reconcile Adam God with doctrine extant at the time, let me know. Darth J gave up because he knows he can't do it. I doubt you're ready to make the long jump up to the third tier of anti Mormonism where he is at.
