Re: Great intro to Adam-God doctrine
Orson Pratt would beg to differ.
But not perhaps Franklin D. Richards......

I can pray to Adam. We know heavenly mother's name, Eve. I can pray to her too. Awesome!
I'm the apostate your bishop warned you about.

When you're ready to explain BY's statements differentiating between God the Father and Adam as well as the trying to reconcile Adam God with doctrine extant at the time, let me know. Darth J gave up because he knows he can't do it. I doubt you're ready to make the long jump up to the third tier of anti Mormonism where he is at.
Again, it's obvious you don't even know what the Adam-God doctrine was. It was NOT that Adam/Michael was Jehovah or Elohim. Learn before you return and embarrass yourself again.

I've read all that BC has written on this subject and it's painfully obvious that he's just grabbed hold of the theory of Adam, Jr. / Sr. because there's absolutely nothing else to hold onto (and there's really nothing there either....but he keeps trying).
His argument is getting very tiresome and ridiculous....and embarrassing (if I even care, he seems to enjoy doing that on here).
Brigham Young taught the Adam-God Theory and even the church admits this now. But BC puts himself above even them on this topic. Unbelievable.....and BC, we're bored with it. It's not effective in the least, and it makes you look to be just plain stupid.

I don't want to get into another pissing match with BCSpace over this issue, but am not aware the church has ever admitted Brigham Young actually taught the Adam-God Theory.
Do you have a source for this?

Re: Great intro to Adam-God doctrine
The First Presidency issued a statement on Adam-God in 1906 which seemed to defend it, saying that Adam being God is logical. An official Statement of the First Presidency in 1906, which can be found in "Messages of the First Presidency" by John Clark.
President Heber J. Grant, in the 1930s, was really the one who said "Enough, stop talking about it!" because Members were writing to him all the time, pointing out contradictions between Adam-God and the Scriptures. He is the one who decided "enough" and told the Members to stop discussing it (i.e. to stop questioning HIM about it because he had no answers).
When the Church is confronted with contradictions in its own doctrines, it responds by telling the Members "stop discussing it or ELSE!!!" I was threatened myself like that.
Mark E. Peterson was the great opponent of Adam-God, and constantly said it was false doctrine and Brigham Young was misquoted. Of course, Peterson was DEAD WRONG! There is MASSIVE evidence that Brigham Young was NOT misquoted. President Kimball once referred to "the false Adam-God belief" in the Church News.
Only false prophets can teach false doctrines. Adam-God was just another "Brain Fart" by Brigham Young. He had many!

Re: Great intro to Adam-God doctrine
There is a certain internal logic to the Adam-God doctrine. Jesus constantly called himself the "son of man." Adam is just a word that means man. You can pull dozens of threads like these together and make a theology out of it.
The fundies still teach Adam God, because they broke off when it was still the orthodox Mormon position.
